Start of the Day
It was early morning on a brisk March day when I stood at the edge of a fresh-water pond in the Salt Lake Valley. There were a few birds sitting on the pond. I watched a couple of geese flying overhead toward another pond in the distance. Suddenly I heard a call from the pond directly in front of me. My attention fixed on a the pair of Canadian Geese just starting to run on the water as they prepared to take flight! There were a couple of “honks” and some splashing. Then it was quiet again.
