Like many nature photographers, I love the sunlight just after sunrise and before sunset. Some call it the “Golden Hour”, others call it the “Magic Hour”. Mundane locations of mid-day are sometimes transformed during the Magic Hour. I determined to return to this pond on an early April afternoon. I had been here before and knew how the gentle wind might combine with the low sunlight to create a tranquil, peaceful, sublime scene. I explored various locations, but I was drawn to the view of the cattails against the dark tonal values of the pond. Indeed, it was a magic moment.
