The first Mormon pioneers came to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Just one years later, Fielding Garr was sent to establish this ranch for the Church on Antelope Island. This island remained a ranch for over 130 years. I felt a bit of nostalgia as I look southwest to the Oouirrh Mountains, which look much the same as they did in 1848.
