Quietude at High Altitude
I was at 7,900 feet elevation on one of my favorite trails in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah when I stopped and looked through an opening in the trees. I was awed as I peered up toward O’Sullivan Peak. Not only were my eyes impressed by the scene, but also my ears were struck by this special landscape. I perceived a sublime silence. The still air, the snow, the mesmerizing scene created a mental quiet that pierced my soul.
